Our Story
Dani and Jade met in the fall of 2010 after Jade opened Champlain Valley Community Fitness. Shortly after meeting they found their way into a relationship and have been living life together focusing their time and energy on educating, learning, and participating in all things fitness. From helping people get off the couch and losing 50lbs, to helping ultra marathon runners hit new PR’s, helping High School athletes increase performance in field sports, and helping countless everyday people live more full-filled and able everyday lives, they’ve worked with just about every type of individual out there.
After having their business shutdown for 3 months in March 2020 due to the Covid Pandemic, with so much unknown about the future, restrictions on their business, etc. they both found their anxiety to be riding a little high. After years of being pestered to get on a bike by Jade’s father Hans, Dani finally gave it a go, fell in love, and became hooked. Fortunately this also pulled Jade back into mountain biking after not really touching a bike for the better part of a decade, finding his way back to his first love and passion. Fast forward a few more years, as Dani stepped away from the competitive sport of Crossfit, she decided to pursue her biggest weakness in the sport, Running, and quickly went from Marathon, to 50K, to 100k, and 100 mile, combing her joy of being in the woods with the mental and physical test of Ultra Running. After getting back into these sports both from a recreational and competitive standpoint they both saw how sparse, often overpriced, and unimpressive the options available were for people interested in strength training/off-season training for these mountain sports, which led them to combine their collective thoughts and experiences to create a robust training program to help guide people to be faster, stronger, and more injury resilient both in the mountains and in everyday life.
Dani Horan
Dani is a native Vermonter growing up on a dairy farm in Central Vermont. A competitive Equestrian rider from a young age until about 20, she found CrossFit in 2010 and quickly became hooked. She put her competitive mindset and hardworking attitude into CrossFit and quickly became one of the most recognizable athletes in the North East, and garnered fans worldwide as she rose to the top of pack in the sport qualifying for the CrossFit Games 8 times (5 Individual, 2 Team, 1 Masters), and finishing in the top 20 on 6 of those occasions (you can read more about her career in CrossFit HERE). In 2020 she fell into the sport of Mountain Biking and immediately became hooked, and found Ultra Running in 2023 after her last trip to the CrossFit Games. She has had the opportunity to work with coaches from all aspects of fitness, from Olympic weightlifting coaches, PT Gurus, to Endurance specialists and everything in between, and brings her unique experience and situation, going from being one of the best in the world at one sport to a complete newbie in another. This experience gives Dani a unique viewpoint when it comes to helping build and design the training programs for the Mountain Training Collective. She loves working out in all mediums, and looks forward to improving her riding skills, exploring new landscapes, and training so that she can do these activities for as long as possible.


Jade Jenny
Jade is a native Vermonter growing up with much of his time spent on the bicycle. He was first introduced to Mountain Biking around 10 years old, which he quickly pulled his father into and that was that. After starting with XC racing, a self-admitted lazy chubby kid, he found he liked going downhill and jumping off of things. He started racing downhill when he was 14 where he found his calling, racing on the Norba National circuit during the heyday of US Racing. After aging out of the Junior class he jumped into the Pro class for a short period of time before moving on from bike racing with expenses and life priorities getting in the way. Jade opened Champlain Valley Community Fitness in the fall of 2010 and has spent everyday since dedicating his life to helping people live fitter, healthier, more active lives, and coaching competitive CrossFitters to the pinnacle of the sport. After finding his way back to the Mountain Bike over the last few years, he decided to dive into things a little more seriously in 2022, jumping back into racing half way through the season. He opted for Enduro this time around, which, from his skill set developed as a kid, and his strength and fitness developed over the prior 10+ years in the gym, was a good fit. He was fortunate enough to have two of the EWS races in his “backyard,” signing up for both on a whim, and placing 4th at the Burke Mountain EWS, and 1st at the Sugarloaf EWS in the 100 class. He’s been able to rack up a podium spot at every one of the local races he’s attended as well. He looks forward to continued riding and racing in the future, and has also gotten coaxed into, and become interested in the running and ultra running world!
